Three die in outback crash near Uluru

Three people have been killed in an outback vehicle rollover near Uluru in central Australia.

Northern Territory Police say the incident happened on the Lasseter Highway, 80km west of the Stuart Highway, about 11.30pm on Thursday.

One woman and two men died at the scene. A woman was taken to Alice Springs Hospital suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

Major crash investigation unit detectives are currently on scene and police will prepare a report for the coroner.

It is not yet known if the deceased travellers were locals or tourists.

Meanwhile, a female bus driver and a male truck driver have survived after their vehicles collided on the Stuart Highway, near Pine Creek about 200km south of Darwin, about 9.30pm last night.

The 26-year-old woman and the 45-year-old man sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

There were no passengers on the bus.

Lasseter Highway links the Stuart Highway to Yulara and Uluru.
