Three deaths on WA coastline

Three people have died in separate tragedies on the coast of WA. (AAP)

Separate tragedies on the WA coast have claimed the lives of three men.

Two of Saturday's deaths involved people fishing for abalone, while the other resulted from a collision between two vessels.

Some time between 7.10am and 7.50am a man in his 50s was fishing with family at Mettams Pool at Perth's North Beach when he was found unconscious in the water.

Members of Sorrento Surf Lifesaving Club and Whitfords Sea Rescue went to his aid but the man could not be revived.

In a separate incident on Saturday morning, a man in his 70s, who was with his family on a boat north of Hillarys Boat Harbour, was abalone fishing on the reef when he became unwell.

Family members helped him back to the boat and started CPR but he was unable to be revived.

WA police will prepare reports for the coroner in relation to both deaths.

In a third incident, an 80-year-old man was killed when a boat and commercial barge collided.

The incident, off the coast of Fremantle, occurred about 12.30pm.

The recreational vessel overturned and its two occupants were thrown into the water. The 80-year-old man died and a 77-year-old man was rescued and treated for minor injuries.

WA police are investigating how the collision occurred.
