Three dead after plane crashes into car on residential street in Florida

Three people have died after a small plane struggling to return to a south Florida airport crashed into a car travelling on a residential street below.

A young boy who was in the car with his mother and two people inside the plane were killed in the crash on Monday afternoon (March 15), officials said.

The incident was captured by a resident's doorbell camera.

Dramatic footage shows the plane colliding with the moving vehicle before bursting into flames.

The boy’s mother was also injured but later released from hospital, authorities said.

The Beechcraft Bonanza aircraft had taken off from North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines and was returning just before 3pm, fire chief Marcel Rodriguez told reporters.

Neighbour Annabel Fernandez told Miami news outlet WSVN: "We heard like a bomb, like a tremendous noise, and we went outside, and everything was on fire."

According to reports, the boy’s mother escaped the vehicle and tried to free her son.

He was eventually rescued by firefighters but died in hospital.

The plane also took out a power line when it crashed, officials said.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
