Three customers offered £20 compensation after network outage disruption - but there's a catch

is offering its customers compensation after a signal outage caused serious disruption for people across the UK.

However, customers entitled to compensation will not be sent it automatically. Instead, they'll need to either call Three or contact the company's online chat service.

Three customers began to complain of an outage on 16 October, when many were left with no signal, and were unable to access the internet on their phones.

The fault was confirmed as fixed by Three on 19 October, and the company issued a statement apologising for any disruption caused.

According to MoneySavingExpert, customers have now started to receive compensation.

Not everyone is entitled to compensation, though, and if you want to make a claim you'll need to be able to prove that the outage impacted you significantly.

Examples of this include it impacting your work, or being left without use of your phone for a considerable amount of time.

However, according to Ofcom, providers must be given reasonable opportunity to fix a problem with network issues.

Speaking of the issue, a spokesperson for Three has said: "If you’d like to talk to us about compensation, please call us and we will consider each case on an individual basis.

"Please be patient because we are experiencing high call volumes."

If you want to make a compensation claim, you can contact Three customer service on 333 on your Three phone, or on 0333 338 1001 from any other phone. Alternatively, you can start an online chat on the Three website.
