A Namibian cheetah named Aasha has given birth to three cubs in Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav said on Wednesday.
Writing on X, Mr. Yadav said: “Purrs in the wild! Thrilled to share that Kuno National Park has welcomed three new members. Cubs have been born to Namibian Cheetah Aasha. This is a big success for Project Cheetah, envisioned by the Prime Minister to restore ecological balance.”
“My big congrats to all experts involved, Kuno wildlife officials, and enthusiasts across India,” he wrote, sharing a video of the cubs.

Kuno National Park which is located in MP’s Sheopur district is home to several cheetahs translocated from Namibia and South Africa.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav congratulated State Government officials involved and said it was an “incredible” development.
“This is incredible because cheetahs were extinct in Asia. It has balanced the ecosystem,” he said in Jabalpur.
“Today is a unique day for the Cheetah Project started in Kuno National Park by the Prime Minister. The dream is now coming true,” he said.
