Three people were critically injured after a reported “pyrotechnic malfunction” caused an explosion on a movie set caused a small brush fire in Santa Clarita, a city north of Los Angeles.

According to CBS Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call on Tuesday (2 February) afternoon.

“An active brush fire has been reported on the 25100 block of Rye Canyon Loop in Valencia after reports of a loud explosion. Fire crews and hazmat resources are currently conducting and investigation. Please stay clear of the area," a tweet from the Sheriff's office read.

“Three burn victims are all being transported to a local trauma center with additional injuries,” Los Angeles County Fire Department Supervisor Ed Pickett told local outlet The Signal. “We don’t know what caused it, and we are doing an investigation right now."

Officials did not say what movie was under production.
