Three counties with potential cases outbreaks in latest county by county coronavirus Ireland figures

Three counties make up the majority of new cases in the last four days according to latest Department of Health figures.

In the period between midnight last Wednesday and Sunday midnight, Dublin, 24, Sligo, 13, and Kildare, 9, all saw the biggest jumps in cases.

The latest HSPC figures released today show the county by county stats up until Sunday midnight which accounts for the 24 new cases confirmed at Monday's press briefing.

Dublin still appears to be the part of the country with the most active cases and most likely to see a fresh outbreak.

However Sligo, with just 138 cases in total has been one of the least affected counties so far.

In this period, Wicklow was the only other county to jump by more than one case with four more confirmed.

12 counties had a total of one new case.

Dr Tony Holohan confirmed on Tuesday that there has been one further coronavirus death and 11 more cases.

There has now been a total of 1,736 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland.

There is now a total of 25,473 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland.

Dr. Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health, said; “Today marks 6 months since the WHO first received reports of what we now know to be COVID-19.

“Since then, there have been 10 million cases and 500,000 deaths reported worldwide.

“We know more about this virus and how to limit its spread than we did 6 months ago. It is very important that we keep up the national effort to reduce the impact of this disease in our country.”

Here is a look at the county by county breakdown;
