Three children rushed to hospital after quad bike crashes into parked car

Three children were rushed to hospital after the quad bike they were riding hit a parked car.

Two air ambulances and multiple paramedics were called to Plank Lane in Leigh yesterday (Sunday) at around 11.30am.

The bike is believed to have been travelling along the towpath on the Leeds Liverpool Canal before coming off the track at the lift bridge on Plank Lane.

The condition of the children is currently unknown. A man who was also riding the quad was taken to hospital along with them.

One of the patients was taken to hospital via air ambulance.

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called yesterday at 11.31am to reports of a road traffic collision between a quad bike and a parked car.

"We sent four ambulances, three rapid response vehicles and two air ambulances.

"We took four patients to hospital via land ambulance - three children and one male adult."

The air ambulances landed on a nearby housing estate beside the canal.

The M.E.N. has approached Greater Manchester Police for more information on the crash.
