Three children have been airlifted to hospital after a car smashed into the wall of a pre-school.
The crash was reported on Monday night near the La Petite Academy preschool on Seco Canyon Road, Saugus, California, US.
KHTS reports that first responders with the Los Angeles County Fire Department were alerted to reports of a road traffic collision at about 4.40pm local time.
Fire officials said that three child patients were airlifted to hospital within an hour.
Pictures of the crash show the devastation outside the pre-school and day care centre.
Reportedly, an SUV had gone through an outer wall of the school building.
Photographs from the scene show a smashed front window and wall.
It is not yet known how severe the children's injuries are or if the driver had suffered was hurt as a result of the crash.
Eyewitness Desmond Shaw said on Twitter: "Car into a pre-school in Saugus.
"Looks like an SUV went right through the outer wall. Three children have been airlifted to the hospital and one other person with minor injuries."
The Los Angeles County Fire Department confirmed three youngsters were airlifted to a local trauma centre.
La Petite Academy is a childcare provider for children aged from 6 weeks to 12 years.
It's unclear how many children were in the building at the time of the crash.
Meanwhile, it had been previously reported that some schools in the area had only just returned back to the classroom on Monday
Some children in early years setting - first and second grades - were said to be back to school in Santa Clarita, of which Saugus is one neighbourhood.
