Three people have been charged after a three-month investigation into alleged drug supply at Lake Macquarie.

Detectives set up Strike Force Birs in July to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs, predominately 'ice' in the area.

Police executed a search warrant at a home in Park Street, Argenton, about 9am on Thursday.

They swooped on an address on Ellesmere Street, Booragul, a short time later.

Police set up crime scene at both locations.

During searches at each of the homes, police allegedly seized various quantities of drugs, predominately methylamphetamine and GHB, a slingshot and ammunition.
