Police charge three people after a drugs seizure at Booragul and Argenton

DETECTIVES say they have smashed a Lake Macquarie drug supply ring, seizing methylamphetamine and GHB and arresting three people during raids at Booragul and Argenton on Thursday.

Brandon Toohey, 25, of Barnsley, was on Friday refused bail in Toronto Local Court accused of nine drug supply offences, including supplying prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis.

Strike Force Birs detectives say the raids were the culmination of a three-month investigation into the supply of drugs, predominantly ice, around Lake Macquarie.

INVESTIGATION: Police say they seized several bags containing methylamphetamine during the raids.

Following an extensive investigation, Lake Macquarie police, who had assistance from the police bikie-busting unit Strike Force Raptor North, Operational Support Group officers and the NSW Police Dog Unit, swooped about 9am on Thursday, raiding a home in Park Street, Argenton.

A short time later, Mr Toohey was arrested at an address in Ellesmere Street, Booragul, police said.

Police established crime scenes at both homes and during a search of the two locations allegedly found and seized various quantities of drugs, predominately methylamphetamine and GHB, a slingshot and ammunition.

In total, three people - two men and a woman - were arrested and taken to Belmont police station.

Mr Toohey was charged with nine offences, including supplying prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, two counts of supplying an indictable quantity of a prohibited drug and supplying a prohibited drug.

He was refused bail by police and appeared in Toronto Local Court on Friday where he applied for bail but it was refused by Magistrate Michael Morahan.

He did not enter any pleas.

Mr Toohey will next appear in Toronto Local Court on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a Teralba man, 24, was charged with four counts of supplying a prohibited drug.

He was granted conditional bail by police to appear in Belmont Local Court on October 16.

A woman, 27, of Argenton, was charged with three offences, including possession of a a prohibited weapon and possession of a prohibited drug.

She was also granted conditional bail by police to appear in Belmont Local Court on October 16.
