Three cars torched in Barrhead as police probe wilful fire-raising

Police are appealing for information after a series of wilful fire-raisings in the Barrhead area in the early hours of this morning.

Between 1.45am and 2.05am, three cars were deliberately set on fire: a blue Dacia Sandero on Harelaw Avenue, a blue Vauxhall Crossland on Patterton Drive, and a black Vauxhall Corsa on Balgray Crescent.

Police believe the incidents to be connected and appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time or saw or heard any suspicious activity or persons to get in touch.

Detective Constable Kieron Frost, of Greater Glasgow CID, said: "We believe the incidents to be connected and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw or heard any suspicious activity or persons to get in touch with police as soon as possible.

"If you were driving in the area and have a dash-cam, I would ask you to please check back and see if there is any footage that may be able to assist our investigation."

Those with information can contact police on 101, quoting reference number 0289 of 17 June. Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
