Three car crash sees busy A737 road near Linwood shut down by police

A major road in Renfrewshire was shut down by police after a crash involving three cars.

Police were called to the northbound A737 near Linwood following the incident shortly before 9am this morning.

The crash led to the closure of both lanes as emergency services carried out recovery operations, bringing traffic to a standstill.

Ambulances were called to the scene however it's unclear if any injuries were sustained in the incident at this stage.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "At around 8.50am on Saturday, 30 October, officers were called to a report of a road crash involving three cars on the A737 near Linwood.

"Police and ambulance attended and the vehicles were recovered."

Traffic Scotland earlier advised on Twitter: "A737 N/B after Linwood is partially blocked due to an RTC involving several vehicles. Police are on scene but traffic is slow to pass."

They then advised both lanes of the road had been fully reopened shortly after 11am.
