Three car crash causes huge tailbacks on major road

A three car crash caused mayhem on a busy main road this afternoon as Queens Drive was closed off.

The southbound stretch of Queens Drive was forced to close at around 2pm today due to the incident, which took place near the Jolly Miller pub and Sandforth Road.

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service confirmed three people suffered minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.

Merseyside Police confirmed officers were called at around 2pm today following reports of a crash in West Derby.

Three cars were involved and damaged, with witnesses taking to social media to urge others to avoid the area, describing the collision as a 'bad one'.

The road remained closed while the vehicles were recovered and motorists were advised to seek alternative routes due to heavy traffic.

Transport services were also affected whilst the road was closed.

Merseytravel confirmed that Arriva 60 and 81 services travelling towards Aigburth were diverted via Mill Bank, Green lane and Old Swan.

The 12, 13 and 15 services were also diverted via Muirhead avenue and Almonds Green, omitting Mill lane.

The road re-opened shortly after 4pm and traffic returned to normal.
