Three brothers found dead in suspected Cork murder-suicide named locally

The three brothers found dead after a suspected murder suicide in North Cork have been named locally as Johnny, 59, Paddy, 60, and Willie Hennessy, 66.

The bodies of two of the men were found at a farmhouse in Corrogorm near Mitchelstown after gardai were informed of fears for their safety late on Thursday night.

Armed units moved in and discovered one body outside before the second was found in a nearby barn.

It’s believed an axe was used to kill them.

The scene was preserved and a hunt to try and locate the third man got underway.

This morning, details of a red Toyota Corolla - registration 03 WW 1556 - were made public and it was soon located about 3km away at an unrelated farm near St Joseph’s Church.

A second scene was cordoned off while the garda helicopter scanned the area from above to try and locate the third brother.

At around midday, a third body was located in a nearby river.

It’s understood there was a dispute between the brothers in relation to the 60 acre farm.

In an earlier statement, a garda spokesman said: "Dr. Margot Bolster, Locum Assistant State Pathologist will attend the scene and post mortems will be carried out at Cork University Hospital later.

"An Garda Síochána appeal to any person with information on the incidents that occurred last night to contact investigating Gardai at Mitchelstown Garda Station 025 84833, the Garda Confidential Number 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."
