Three Bristol Rovers legends are returning to the Memorial Stadium this weekend

Bristol Rovers' season may have ended last week but there is still football on at the Memorial Stadium this weekend.

A trio of Rovers legends are returning to the Memorial Stadium for a three-team fans' tournament.

Ian Holloway, Nathan Ellington and Aaron Lescott will all be taking part in the day - with Ellington and Lescott acting as captains of two sides and Holloway managing the third.

Despite a long and varied career, the Gas are undoubtedly the club most associated with Holloway.

He had three stints at Rovers as a player, making over 100 appearances each time, and he also spent five successful years as manager.

Holloway's connections with the Gas were reinforced this season when he started a weekly column about the club for Bristol Live.

Ellington scored 35 league goals in 116 matches for the Gas between 1999 and 2002, including a memorable hat-trick against Premier League side Derby County in the FA Cup.

Rovers were the side that gave Ellington his big break in football as they signed him from Walton & Hersham before eventually selling him to Wigan Athletic.

Lescott needs very little introduction for Rovers fans after a six-year spell at the club in which he made 207 league appearances.

The defender scored five goals for the Gas in his time at the club before he left for Walsall in 2010.

As well as playing in the games, fans will also be given the opportunity to take part in a Q&A with the Rovers legends.

Places are still available to play on the day - visit Play With A Legend for more information. Spectators are welcome to join to watch the action and join the Q&A with the legends. It’s £10 adults and £5 children and senior citizens with tickets on the door via the main reception at the Mem. Doors open at 9am with the action starting at 9.30am.
