Three boys drown in village pond in Jagtial district

Three boys belonging to separate families of daily wage labourers drowned in a pond at Thummenala village in Dharmapuri mandal of Jagtial district on Sunday.

The trio identified as Sharat, 14, Yashwanth, 13, and Navadeep, 10, met with their tragic end while taking bath in a local pond to beat the summer heat, sources said.

Their bodies were retrieved from the pond and shifted to the mortuary at the government hospital in Jagtial.

Yashwanth’s parents, both migrant labourers from Yadadri Bhongir district, were away in an agricultural field to carry out desilting work in an open well when the incident occurred, sources said.

Heart-wrenching scenes were witnessed at the incident site as the grief stricken family members of the trio cried inconsolably as the police along with the local youths fished out the bodies of the deceased from the pond.
