Three-bed house goes on sale for same price as second-hand car - with a garden

A family home is due to go up for sale for a mere £5,000 - the same price as a second-hand car or luxury handbag.

The three-bed property in Middlesbrough is set to go under the hammer next month.

The tiny price tag could also fetch you a Prada Ostrich leather bag or a pre-owned Ford Fiesta, which sell for around the same amount.

The property, which is located on Finsbury Street in the Northeast town, boasts three spacious double bedrooms and a bath and shower room.

It also features a family-sized living room, and a kitchen leading out onto the garden.

One of the bedrooms even has space for an office desk in the corner as well as a double wardrobe, making working from home a real possibility for potential homeowners.

With nearby Middlesbrough, Thornaby, and Marton railway lines all within three miles of the property, the house is well-connected to transport links.

But the residential area is also ideal for beach walks, with Finsbury Street roughly a 30-minute drive to the nearby coastline.

Royal Estates, the company that manages the property, describes it as: "A three bedroom terraced house located in a quiet residential area.

"The property briefly compromises of: entrance hallway, through lounge, kitchen leading into rear garden, three bedrooms, family bathroom and a turfed rear garden."

The impossibly small price tag pales in comparison to average UK house prices, and is much more affordable than other homes in the area.

The average price of terraced houses sold in Middlesbrough last year was £82,594, while houses on the same street came in at an average of £34,500.

A house in London, however, would set you back an average of £705K, according to Zoopla, while the national norm is £330K.

Bidding for the property begins on February 8 and runs until February 10.
