Three Bears: Marquess Wilson just right

Nov. 23--Too hot

Adrian Amos

The rookie safety recorded his first career sack and also tied for the team high with seven solo tackles. On the second play from scrimmage in the second half, Amos recorded one of the Bears' season-high five sacks. He blitzed from deep in the defensive backfield, and good coverage forced Broncos quarterback Brock Osweiler to hold the ball long enough for Amos to get home. One of Amos' quality tackles was of receiver Demaryius Thomas on a second-quarter screen for a gain of only 3 yards.

Too cold

Patrick Omameh

Bears running backs Jeremy Langford and Ka'Deem Carey combined for only 57 yards on 22 attempts, an average of 2.6 yards per carry. Effective running lanes were few and far between against the NFL's top-ranked defense, and the offensive line failed to sustain a push. Defensive end Derek Wolfe beat Omameh, the right guard, for a first-quarter sack. Omameh bent at the waist and got himself off balance. He also was pushed backward at the point of attack on the failed two-point conversion.

Just right

Marquess Wilson

Wilson's 102 receiving yards were a career high. He was targeted seven times and caught four balls, playing a more prominent role because receivers Alshon Jeffery (groin) and Eddie Royal (left knee) sat out. He got behind the defense on a 40-yard catch-and-run in the fourth quarter as quarterback Jay Cutler beat the defense with a play-action bootleg. On the downside, Wilson failed to haul in a potential touchdown on a cross on third-and-goal from the 4 in the fourth quarter.
