Three Arsenal players set to leave including Miguel Azeez after Mikel Arteta transfer hint

Three players are set to leave Arsenal, including academy star Miguel Azeez.

The Gunners are looking to make the most of the time they have between now and Deadline Day at 11pm on Tuesday, August 31 after Mikel Arteta confirmed that "exits are planned."

football.london report that the Azeez has arrived at Portsmouth to finalise a season-long loan move at Fratton Park.

The 18-year-old is one of the brightest prospects in Arsenal's academy.

Having made his senior debut in the Europa League last term, the youngster impressed in pre-season, notably netting a long-range strike against Watford.

With no European football for the Gunners to compete in over the course of this campaign, a decision has been made to loan Azeez out and ensure he receives regular game time, having found a suitor from League One under a familiar manager.

Pompey boss Danny Cowley coached Emile Smith Rowe at Huddersfield Town and has been entrusted with developing another midfielder.

Earlier this month, however, Cowley brushed off reports of Azeez heading to the south coast.

"He’s a boy I know, he’s a very good player," Cowley told Hampshire Live.

"We obviously have a good relationship with Arsenal because of Ems."

"It’s probably people putting two and two together and getting five," the former Terriers boss added.

Mikel Arteta is said to be a big fan of Azeez and is keen to see him progress.

Fellow midfielder Tim Akinola, 20, is expected to also depart on loan and right-back Ryan Alebiosu, 19, is also expected to spend the season away from North London, with talks over a temporary switch to Sunderland 'gathering pace.'

Following Arsenal's 6-0 thrashing of West Bromwich Albion in the second round of the Carabao Cup, Arteta gave fans an insight into whether there will be any further transfer business at the Emirates before the window slams shut.

The Gunners have already spent £140million on Nuno Tavares, Ben White, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Martin Odegaard and Aaron Ramsdale as they bid to rebuild following a disastrous 2020-21 as they slumped to eighth place in the Premier League.

Arteta told Sky Sports : "I don’t know what will happen. A few days to go. Some exits are planned."

"As you say, this is speculation," he said regarding talks of Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Sead Kolasinac, who both featured, leaving.

"While they are here we try to treat everybody as good as we can, give them minutes.

Arteta added: "They have incredible attitude so when we can reward them with minutes because they deserve that."

Odegaard and Ramsdale made their debuts in the resounding win, the team's first of the season, and their new boss had only praise for them post-match.

"They were very good, the both of them," stated Arteta.

"Martin gives us something different we don’t have with any other player. Aaron looked very comfortable. He’s a big personality.

"He [Ramsdale] hasn’t trained a lot with us. He’s a really young goalkeeper who has done a lot in this league already."
