THREE pro-Palestine campaigners have been arrested after driving a van into the security fence of a defence firm factory in Edinburgh.
The protesters crashed into the exterior fence of the premises on Crewe Road on Tuesday morning.
This led to a large police presence and three women – aged 31, 34 and 42 and belonging to the activist group Shut Down Leonardo Edinburgh – were arrested.
Now, Police Scotland have confirmed that the trio have been arrested specifically under the Terrorism Act 2000.
Police Scotland's Counter Terrorism Unit is leading the investigation and appealed for information.
Leonardo, an Italian company on Crewe Road, has been subject to a series of protests over it supplying military technology to Israel amid its genocide in Gaza.
This includes components for F-35 fighter jets, which have been used to bomb Palestinians.
