Three arrested over 'neglect' death of woman are released under investigation

Three people who were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after a woman was found dead in Stockport have been released under investigation.

A man aged 63, a woman aged 56, and a man aged 28 were detained following the death of a 42-year-old woman at a house on Arley Grove in the Adswood area on Monday afternoon.

Police said the trio were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter through gross negligence.

In a statement issued this morning (Wednesday), the force confirmed that all three have now been released under investigation.

Detectives arrived and began investigating the circumstances of the death at the property.

Forensics experts were seen entering the house and taking pictures.

Later in the evening, three people were led from the property in handcuffs and put into a police van, neighbours said.

A neighbour who was watching on said the older man was shouting "They are arresting me, I've done nothing wrong!".

The 42-year-old woman who died has not yet been identified but neighbours believe she used a wheelchair and had only been living in the property a short time.

"I think she'd lived there since lockdown," said one neighbour.

"We'd see her going up the street in her wheelchair."

Another neighbour said she hadn't seen the woman since before Christmas.

The house appeared to remain empty on Tuesday, although detectives returned in the afternoon for a short period of time.

A cause of death has not been disclosed by police.
