Three arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after devastating house fire

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a devastating house fire that saw a family jump from windows to escape the blaze.

West Yorkshire Police have arrested a 21-year-old Wakefield woman, 22-year-old Wakefield man and a 17-year-old girl from Batley in relation with the arson attack on a house in Stonedene Court, Heckmondwike, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

All three remain in custody as enquiries continue.

The family at the semidetached home were forced to escape through the windows, including two girls aged 11 and 16.

Another woman also escaped from the home along with a 17-year-old male, who is in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

He is receiving treatment for burns and also injuries suffered as he jumped from a third-storey window at the property.

Anyone who has information or CCTV of the offence or suspicious behaviour on the street is asked to contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, (HMET) on 101 referencing Operation PAIRGLEN and crime number 13190409679.
