AGARTALA: Three persons were arrested from the South Kayardhepa area on Tuesday night for allegedly circulating obscene visuals and derogatory texts against CM Biplab Kumar Deb on the social media. They were forwarded to a local court on Wednesday, seeking their custody for further investigation.
Police said the accused have been identified as Rubel Khan, his father Rustam Alam and brother Obel Khan. Rubel had allegedly made an obscene social media post of Deb after which three leaders of Kamalasagar BJP Mandal had gone to the house of the youth to find out why he did it. But Rubel came out with a sharp weapon and chased them away along with his father, brother and uncle Khorshed Alam.
Police rushed to the spot and arrested three of them. But Khorshed fled the spot. The Kamalasagar BJP Mandal has filed a case against the four accused at Madhupur Police Station under Section 67 of IT Act and related sections of CRPC, accusing them of being involved in robberies, murders and several anti-social activities.
