Three arrested as gardai seize €900,000 of cocaine and cannabis in huge drugs bust near Ardee, Co Louth

Three people have been arrested in relation to a massive seizure of drugs in Co Louth on Sunday.

Cocaine and cannabis worth more than €900,000 was found after two vehicles were stopped near Ardee.

The seizure was made as part of ongoing intelligence led investigations associated with the Joint Agency Task Force (JATF) targeting suspected drug traffickers in the area.

During the operation, officers from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) intercepted the vehicles around 1am while travelling in the vicinity of Ardee.

The drugs were seized along with an animal transporter truck and a high powered car.

A Garda spokesman said: “Two men aged 41 and 33 and one woman aged 33 years were arrested and are currently detained for questioning at Dundalk and Ashbourne Garda Stations under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

“They can be held for up to seven days.”

Investigations are ongoing.
