Three arrested and charged after alleged homophobic attack on busy Edinburgh Street

Three men have been arrested following a homophobic attack on a busy Edinburgh street.

Police have confirmed they have arrested and charged three men ages 23, 22, and 21 after two men were attacked on Leith Street in Edinburgh on July 30.

We previously reported how the incident was being treated by officers as a hate crime.

The three men have been released on an undertaking to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Inspector Mark McGraw said: "Any form of hate crime has a huge impact on those targeted. An attack on people because of their sexual orientation, gender identity, race or beliefs, is abhorrent and will not be tolerated.”
