Three arrested after 'stabbing' at Sports Direct store in Wrexham

Three people have been arrested following an apparent stabbing at a Sports Direct store.

Armed police and paramedics were called to the outlet on Henblas Street in Wrexham after reports that a person had been injured.

NorthWalesLive has reported witnesses saying that a person was stabbed in the store before police swooped on the area.

A North Wales Police spokesman said: "Three males have been arrested on suspicion of a wounding incident in Henblas Street around 2.51pm today.

"They are all in custody."

Police have not yet officially confirmed whether a stabbing has taken place.

The force later added: "We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident and there is no risk to the wider public.

"Witnesses or anyone with information please call 101 ref Y130435."

Soon after the incident, armed police were also seen to swoop on the Tesco store on Crescent Road - which is around half-a-mile from the Sports Direct store.

It has also not yet been confirmed whether this is linked or not.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said one rapid response car and one emergency ambulance was sent to the scene before a person was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

No details on their condition have been released.

Sports Direct have been approached for comment.
