Three people, including a 15-year-old boy, have been arrested after a serious assault involving a machete and baseball bats at Ipswich, west of Brisbane.

Police say a 38-year-old was hospitalised with a wrist injury after a disturbance at a One Mile residence on Saturday night.

They said the man's vehicle, which had his teenage son inside, then had a passenger window smashed and car keys stolen in the attack.

The man and his son ran to a nearby residence before the 38-year-old was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Police said two men, aged 29 and 38, along with the 15-year-old had been charged with grievous bodily harm, wilful damage and enter premises.

The 29-year-old man required treatment from Queensland paramedics for a chest laceration when located by police.

Both men will appear in court at Ipswich on Monday.

"Investigations are ongoing to identify others believed to be involved in the dispute," police said.
