Three arrested after police spot 'suspicious circumstances' at Cityside shopping centre

Three people have been arrested in north Belfast on suspicion of Class A drug production.

Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Belfast Crime Team observed a vehicle "in suspicious circumstances" in the car park of the Cityside shopping centre on Wednesday afternoon (August 18).

Officers said on Facebook they stopped a male and female in the vehicle and a further male leaving the scene on foot.

Following searches carried out at the roadside, all three were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the production of a Class A controlled drug and for being in possession of criminal property, police said.

They then carried out follow-up searches, during which suspected Class A drugs, cash and numerous items suspected to be used in the production of methamphetamine were seized.

Police said: "All three persons remain in custody and are assisting police with their enquiries."
