Three people have been arrested following a street fight in Kirkby.

The incident, which involved a number of people, took place this evening, at around 6pm.

As a result, three people were arrested on the scene by an emergency patrol team, who were accompanied by local police officers and a dog patrol.

A Merseyside police officer said: "It's getting busy now. Three arrests made in Kirkby following a fight in the street.

"Emergency patrols teamed up with local policing officers and a dog patrol to make arrests, speak to witnesses and gather evidence. Stay tuned for more."

Superintendent Chris Gibson quote tweeted the post and said: "Sharing live @MerseyPolice Response policing team updates this evening.

"Providing an insight into the extremely challenging yet rewarding role of a Response officer in Merseyside. I’m extremely proud of our courageous frontline officers #ResponsePolicing."

The officers are live tweeting a night on the job as part of 'Response Week' , as a way to 'showcase the work of emergency response officers and thank them for the work they do to help people in their hour of need.'

In a video posted to Twitter explaining Response Week, Deputy Chief Constable for Merseyside Police, Serena Kennedy, said: "It's going to be a fantastic week, with every force in the UK involved.

"So keep following the hashtag #ResponcePolicingWeek and join us in celebrating the extraordinary work our response officers do."
