Three arrested after fight at pub as England match with Germany was ending

Three men have been arrested after a fight in a pub just as England's match with Germany was ending.

Police said they were called to the Stocks Hotel on Manchester Road in Worsley, Salford, at 6.49pm.

According to the pub's Facebook page, the Euro 2020 clash was being shown on big screens.

Police officers attended and established that a fight had taken place.

Three men were arrested at the scene on suspicion of violent disorder.

Former Chief Prosecutor Nazir Afzal went past the scene and tweeted: "Just drove past a pub in Manchester after the game with nobody there & a lot of police.

"A stabbing, a woman knocked unconscious & chairs & tables overturned We WON ffs."

Another witness also reported that a police cordon was in place on Manchester Road.

When the Manchester Evening News attended the scene only a single police remained outside the pub.

A statement issued by Greater Manchester Police did not make clear whether any injuries have been suffered.

A spokesperson said: "At 1849hrs on Tuesday 29 th June 21 police were called to a report of fighting at the Stocks Hotel, Manchester Rd, Worsley.

"Officers attended and established that a fight had taken place involving a group of males.

"Three males have been arrested at the scene, in relation to violent disorder."
