Three arrested after burglary at hair salon in Moston

Two men and a teenage boy have been arrested after a north Manchester hair salon was burgled.

Police were called just before 7pm yesterday (December 29) to reports of three men acting suspiciously behind a hair salon on Moston Lane, in Moston.

As police arrived at the scene, one of the men ran towards Hinde Street in the direction of officers and was detained.

Two others were then detained by police inside the premises.

The three suspects - two men aged 28 and 24, and a 17-year-old boy - have been arrested on suspicion of burglary.

All three remain in police custody for questioning.

Following searches, a small amount of loose change - believed to have been taken from petty cash - has also been recovered by officers.

Insp Anthony Bleakley from Greater Manchester Police's City of Manchester District, said: "Burglary is an intrusive crime and we will not tolerate it in our communities.

"I hope these arrests send a strong message that for every burglary reported to ourselves, we are prepared to take robust action to fight this high impact crime - and every report will be investigated - utilising a full range of assets from across the force including our forensic teams, to identify offenders where possible and deliver crime prevention advice as well as support victims affected by this type of criminality.

"But we rely on you the public to tell us what is happening - so if you see something that doesn't look quite right, get in touch with police."

Reports can be made to GMP using LiveChat on the force's website or by calling 101. Always call 999 in an emergency.

GMP's top tips to avoid being burgled

  • Put your burglar alarm on at night-time and when you go out
  • Lock all windows and doors
  • Use a timer to switch lights on to give the impression someone is at home
  • Don’t leave valuables on show
  • Make valuable items traceable. Photograph your property and register it free of charge at www.immobilise.com
  • Keep an eye out in your neighbourhood, and report anything suspicious to police.
