Three arrested after boozy teens spark trouble following day at Troon beach

Police made three arrests following a day of boozy activities at Troon beach.

Hundreds of teens made their way to the Ayrshire coast yesterday for an event organised through Facebook.

And although cops confiscated large amounts of alcohol throughout the day, trouble flared late into the evening.

Inspector John Hamilton confirmed: "Three arrests were made after a very small minority of about 50 people caused the problem late on.

"Even though we had taken amounts of drink off people there was an element who had managed to get drink through the lines that caused a disturbance.

"There was another disturbance at Troon railway station.

"Then another was arrested in an incident involving a stand up fight.

"It is a shame because the majority were all really good but there was a small element later in the day that caused the trouble.

"No members of the public were impacted, no police were injured.

"With good weather predicted tomorrow there will be a Safer Shores team in place.

"Should something like this arise we will be in a position to deal with it."
