Three men are in police custody after a gang suspected of stealing high-powered cars were pursued by police.
It is believed the gang are behind a series of thefts and attempted burglaries in villages on the Stockport and Cheshire border.
Officers were alerted after three men wearing balaclavas and armed with a machete and baseball bat stormed into a house in Moor End Road, Mellor, Stockport.

The owner of the home was made to hand over his keys to a VW Golf which was driven off. The VW left the scene with a blue BMW. The raid happened at about 10pm last night.
A few hours later, officers from Cheshire Constabulary spotted the BMW, believed to have been stolen in Marple Bridge on November 29th.
A five-mile pursuit ended in Shaw Heath, Stockport, with three men arrested - police believe a fourth man may be outstanding.
Police believe the incidents may be linked to an attempted burglary at Woodlands Park Road, Offerton, also on December 30.
The men - aged 20, 23 and 32 - are being questioned on suspicion of aggravated burglary.
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Moyles, of GMP's Stockport district, said: "Thanks to the swift actions of our colleagues in Cheshire, we have three men in custody and they are being questioned about a number of incidents."
