Three wards of Liverpool have recorded a rise in their coronavirus infections even as the city’s infection rate as a whole continues to drop.
Liverpool Council’s latest coronavirus report shows that in the week up to February 22 the city had an infection rate of 142.2 cases per 100,000 people.
There were a total of 708 cases in the city over those seven days, a decline on the previous week but still very high.
Twenty four of the city’s neighbourhoods recorded drops in their coronavirus levels – but three wards saw a rise and one saw it stay the same.
Mossley Hill, Princes Park and Tuebrook & Stoneycroft were the wards that saw rise in their infection rate, while Knotty Ash’s case levels stayed roughly the same.

Commenting about the latest report, the city’s public health director Matt Ashton said cases remained too high and urged people to follow restrictions.
In a tweet, he said: “Data up to 22nd Feb gives a weekly rate of #Covid19 in #Liverpool of 142.2 per 100,000 popn. The latest positivity rate is 7.6%. Approx 18% of cases were detected via Lateral Flow. Rates are still too high, please follow the current rules”
The daily report said the highest number of cases overall were in “Tuebrook and Stoneycroft (47 cases), Speke-Garston (44 cases), Warbreck (40 cases), Princes Park (38 cases), Fazakerley (35 cases), Riverside (29 cases), West Derby (28 cases), Picton (27 cases), Kensington and Fairfield (27 cases) and Clubmoor (26 cases)”
