Three antisocial Edinburgh hotspots pinpointed as police pledge crackdown in city's Southside

Police say they'll be cracking down on anti-social behaviour in Edinburgh's Southside with focused patrols in three key areas this weekend.

Officers say they've seen an increase in disorder in Bristo Square, George Square and Nicolson Street in recent weeks, and they'll be doing all they can to avoid a repeat.

Current Scottish Government Covid-19 restrictions prevent people from gathering, and Edinburgh Police Division are urging people to "be considerate" and remember the guidelines.

They said: "Following an increase in antisocial behaviour in Bristo Square, George Square and Nicolson Street during the past few weekends, we will be carrying out focused patrols in these areas this weekend.

"Please be considerate and always remember the current Scottish Government guidelines."

A number of people shared their approval of the news of the police action on social media, while highlighting other problem areas.

Lisa HQ posted: "Get along to Saughton Park too! Police presence is much needed there, I'm afraid, most evenings."
