Three adults and three children have been taken to hospital after a fire tore through a northeast London home early on Thursday.

Around 25 firefighters were scrambled to a terraced house in Woodman Path, Hainault, around 5.50am.

They arrived at the scene to find half of the ground floor and part of the first floor ablaze.

Three children, a woman and two men were taken to hospital by ambulance crews.

A further woman and two children were treated at the scene after suffering from smoke inhalation.

Sub Officer Matt Bannon, who was at the scene, said: “On arrival, firefighters found a well-developed fire on the ground floor which was producing a lot of smoke.

“Crews carried out a search of the building to ensure no one was still inside.

“This was a dynamic incident and crews worked incredibly hard to bring the fire under control.”

Firefighters tackled the blaze for around an hour and 20 minutes, before it was brought under control.

The cause is under investigation.
