Threave Rovers Youth Football hold fun day at Birkland Park in Castle Douglas

Threave Rovers Youth Football held a fun day at Birkland Park.

Youngsters flocked to the facility, which was officially opened in May last year, to enjoy football as well as beat the goalie and a crossbar challenge. And there was also the opening of the new food stall which has been named The Shy Hut.

Youth football chairman Mark Geddes said: “We held it to raise funds for the youth section but also to celebrate all the work that we have done.

“We have come a long way in the last 18 months and I think it’s quite important to celebrate these things.

“We raised around £750 so it was a worthwhile exercise.

“All the money raised will go into the upkeep of the Birkland or for other projects to provide football facilities in Castle Douglas.”
