Threave Rovers Youth Development's girls teams come together for end of season party in Castle Douglas

More than 60 players, parents, family and coaches involved with Threave Rovers Youth Development’s girls teams enjoyed the annual end of season party at Threave Rovers Social Club recently.

Coach Lewis provided a review of the year, looking at the highlights of the season and mentioning the growth from 22 players training last year to 38 training this, with more girls showing interest in the growing game of girls football.

The girls from the under-nine, under-11 and under-15 teams were presented with their medals, followed by the under-15s trophies. The most improved player award went to Kira, one of many players who has had to play multiple positions over the past season as the girls moved to the 11-a-side format.

Players’ player of the year and coaches player was won by goalkeeper Heather, who has shown some amazing performances over the past season after stepping into a bigger goal for the first time.

The coaches would like thank everyone for their support over the past season and hope to keep going strong and growing the girls game coming into the 2020 season.

Thanks must also go to the coaching team for giving up their time and all their effort enabling the girls to play a game they love.
