Threave Rovers players urged to take nothing for granted against basement boys Wigtown

Threave Rovers players are being warned to take nothing for granted when they face basement boys Wigtown on Saturday.

The Trammondford Park side are bottom of the South of Scotland League with just one win to their name all season.

However, Threave gaffer Vinnie Parker knows his side can’t afford to be complacent.

He said: “There are no easy games and we know if we drop our guard we’ll get punished and get beaten.

“When we’ve played them I thought they’ve been decent and they’ve been robust so it’ll be a tough place to go. Their pitch is a wee bit of a leveller at times so we’ll have to work hard, which is why we’ve worked hard on a lot of fitness.”

This will be Threave’s first game of 2022 after last week’s game against Upper Annandale fell by the wayside due to a coronavirus outbreak in the Moffat camp.

Parker added: “We trained on Saturday morning, everybody was in. It was like pre-season, boys got a bit of a doing with loads of running and fitness work. It was a chance to run off some of the turkey and work on a few things.”
