Threave Rovers are looking to pull off another cup upset this weekend.
The Castle Douglas side face second division leaders Renfrew in the second round of the West of Scotland League Cup.
The first round saw them eliminate Thorniewood United in a fiery encounter that saw four players and the opposition manager sent off.
Threave boss Vinnie Parker said: “We’ll be going as underdogs and I think that suits us. We’ll go about our business, conduct ourselves the way we usually do and hopefully get through to the next round.
“I think Renfrew went 13 games unbeaten – they lost narrowly on Saturday and they play Yoker midweek so I’ll have them watched. I’ve spoken to a few managers about them and they’re a decent football team.
“We’ve played at their ground before as St Peter’s ground share with them. It’s a 3G surface and it’s pretty flat as it gets a lot of traffic during the week.
“It’s not an ideal surface but at least we won’t be caught by surprise. We know how to adapt to it.”
Threave go into the match on the back of a blank weekend.
They were due to host Easterhouse FA at Meadow Park on Saturday but the weather saw it postponed.
Parker said: “The club worked really hard on Friday after all the rain but the referee had to call it off.
“It was disappointing – my wife and her pals were meant to be in hospitality and it was cancelled so it was disappointing for her too!
“Because there’s no midweek games, it’s two weeks without a league game which is disappointing. The boys had a weekend off and it gave myself and my assistant Kevin Somerville a chance to do a bit of work, reflecting on training and how we can make things better.
“If you want to improve as a manager, a club and a team you’ve got to constantly look at yourself and what you can do better.
“We were just analysing the league and other teams and how we can push ourselves forward.”
