'Threats made' as police called to men arguing at Costa Coffee

A group of men ran away before police arrived after threats were reportedly made in a Liverpool city centre coffee shop.

Merseyside Police confirmed they were sent to what's thought to have been an altercation between a group of men yesterday morning (June 2).

The alarm was raised around 9.10am after reports of a row between two men inside Costa Coffee at the junction of Tithebarn Street and Chapel Street.

More men are then said to have entered the shop and it's reported that "threats were made".

The group of men had all run away by the time police arrived on the scene.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that officers were made aware of a possible altercation in Liverpool City Centre yesterday morning, Wednesday June 2.

"At around 9.10am, we received a third-hand report of a verbal altercation between two men inside Costa Coffee at the junction of Tithebarn Street and Chapel Street.

"Further men reportedly entered the premises and threats were made.

"All parties made off prior to police attendance and following enquiries, nobody made themselves known."
