Threat received to blow up Varanasi airport by attacking with drones

VARANASI: The Lal Bahadur Shastri international airport officials in Varanasi received a letter containing threat to blow the airport by attacking with drone.

ACP Pindra Amit Kumar on Thursday said that on the complaint of chief security officer of airport, an FIR was lodged against unidentified persons under section 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication) of IPC with Phoolpur police station on Wednesday midnight. Police investigation has been started in this connection and suspected persons involved in sending threat are being searched, he added.

Earlier, a letter addressed to director of LBSI airport was received by the airport officials through post on Wednesday. When the letter was opened, the airport officials found that it contained the threat to blow the airport by attacking with drones.

Taking serious note of it, chief security officer was alerted, who lodged the FIR.
