Threat of strike action as Nottingham City Transport bus drivers reject pay offer

Staff at Nottingham City Transport have rejected a pay offer - with a possibility strike action could be taken.

Earlier in the week the bus company confirmed pay negotiations were taking place between the firm and Unite, the workers' union representing drivers.

It was reported that a rejection could lead to potential strike action.

NCT has since confirmed the negotiated pay offer between itself and Unite had not been accepted.

A spokesman for NCT said: "We respect the result of the pay ballot.

"NCT and Unite the Union representatives are meeting on Monday to continue negotiations."

The result of the ballot has been seen by Nottinghamshire Live.

A total of 424 people rejected the offer, while 32 accepted it. Six were 'spoiled'.

It is understood a new pay offer will be balloted on after Monday's meeting.

The ballot comes amid industrial action involving workers from tram company NET, after the GMB Union rejected a revised pay offer from the city's tram operator.

A strike involving NET staff took place on Friday, November 5, into November 6, with no services running during that time.

Another 24 hour strike is planned for Tuesday, November 23.
