HYDERABAD: A Hyderabad-Dubai flight was cancelled following the receipt of a threatening email at Rajiv Gandhi International (RGIA) Airport, on Monday.
Police said that the threat was later declared a hoax.
The email, received by the airport's terminal manager on Sunday evening, claimed that a passenger on the Hyderabad-Dubai flight was an informant for the ISI and intended to hijack the aircraft, possibly with assistance from others at the airport.
A senior police official from the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate confirmed that a case had been registered, and a thorough investigation was underway to trace the sender of the email.
In accordance with the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security's protocols, the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee convened to evaluate the threat message. After careful consideration, it was categorized as "specific," prompting airport officials to follow established procedures.
Subsequently, three passengers were offloaded and handed over to the police. The Dubai-bound flight was canceled, but passengers were promptly accommodated on an alternative flight. Further inquiries into the matter are ongoing.
