THOUSANDS are expected to take part in a march by a protestant organisation in Glasgow next month.
The Provincial Grand Black Chapter of Scotland is holding its biggest walk in the city of the year on Saturday, August 8, in the Govan and Ibrox area.
Around 2000 people are expected to be in the march, with more supporters following along the route.
The march starts at Elder Park, in Govan, at 11.30 am and goes along Govan Road, to lay a wreath at the War Memorial, then continue on Orkney Street, Summerston Road, Copland Road, Edmiston Drive, Paisley Road West and then end at Lorne Street.
The Provincial Grand Black Chapter of Scotland describes itself as a "Protestant Loyal Order in amity with the Loyal Orange Institution of Scotland".
There are a number of other walks by Royal Black groups in the city on the same day.
The Ancient Sons of William RBP is marching from Centre Street, in the Southside, at 1.45pm. Around 80 people are to parade across the River Clyde on the King George V bridge, then up Oswold Street, Hope Street and onto Bath Street and Cathedral Street to end at Castle Street.
The Partick Royal Black District is marching, with 90 people, from Partick to Govan to meet the larger parade.
It will leave Beith Street, and head along Rosevale Street, Dumbarton Road, Benalder Street and Cooperswell Street, then back onto Beith Street, Castlebank Street and Pointhouse Place, to cross the Govan - Partick pedestrian bridge, to Water Row, and then along Govan Road to Elder Park.
A march by the Jonathan Harvey Memorial RBP will leave Haugh Road in the West End at 8.30 am to go to the War Memorial at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, to lay a wreath and then continue along Dumbarton Road to Beith Street.
The Royal Black Preceptory 859 will meet at Causewayside Street, in Tollcross, at 8.30 am, to go along Tollcross Road, Crail Street, Westmuir Street and Quarryknowe Street.
The week before on Sunday, August 2, around 500 people are expected to take part in a Provincial Grand Black Chapter of Scotland walk from Brand Street, in Ibrox, along Paisley Road West and Shieldhall Road and ending at a church at Landcroft Road.
