Thousands take to Glasgow city centre for Boris Johnson protest

Thousands of Glaswegians have gathered in protest of Boris Johnson today (Friday) following the Conservative win in yesterday’s general election.

Crowds flocked to the city centre from 6pm to take part in the ‘Not My Prime Minister’ demonstration.

As reported by Glasgow Live, it was a huge victory for the SNP last night here in Scotland with 48 of 59 seats going to Nicola Sturgeon ’s party - but down south, the Conservatives swept the board with 364 seats in total.

The news of the Conservative win prompted today’s event.

Demonstrators met at Buchanan Street steps before marching down the busy shopping street.

They were blocked from entering Argyle Street by police.

The Facebook event page called out Johnson as “not fit to represent a multicultural society” and accuses the PM of racism, bigotry and homophobia.

It reads: “We cannot have him as Prime Minister for the next five years. Let’s greet the first day of Johnson’s new term with protests across the country.”
