Thousands take on 37th Children's Cancer Run - can you spot your little superstar in our gallery?

Record numbers of athletes young and old turned out on Sunday to support the 37th annual Children's Cancer Run.

More than 9,000 family groups descended on Newcastle Racecourse for the event to take part in the one, three or five-mile-long routes arounf the course.

Organisers, the North of England Children's Cancer Research charity, said they hoped the day would raise more than £280,000 to fund life saving studies in childhood cancer.

See if you can spot yourself, or any young runners you know, in our gallery:

The atmosphere among the thousands of runners was joyful, but emotional for many who'd turned out to commemorate loved ones they'd lost to cancer.

Runners had a choice of five miles, three mile and 'mini mile' cross country tracks allowing families and runners of all ages and abilities to take part.

Abigail Hewison, NECCR Events Manager said: "Our supporters are simply amazing. We want to say a huge thank you to all of our corporate partners, volunteers, the army and police cadets who each year give their time and money to make the run as incredible as possible.

"Without the commitment of all of these people, the Children's Cancer Run wouldn't be the event that it is today."
