Thousands raised for 'wee star in the sky' Shea Ryan after Drumchapel building site tragedy

Thousands of pounds have been raised to support the family of a little boy killed in a building site tragedy.

Ten-year-old Shea Ryan lost his fight for life after suffering serious injuries last Thursday.

The lad was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after the horrific incident unfolded at the spot on Glenkirk Drive, Drumchapel.

Now well wishers have banded together to do what they can to ease the burden on little Shea's grieving family, and so far the fundraiser has already generated £4,373.

Clark Kerr, who organised the appeal said: "We have decided to start a go fund me page for our wee star in the sky Shea Ryan to help his family in this unbelievable heartbreaking time.

"Shea had his whole life ahead of him he is a wee boy who gonna be deeply missed by all who all who knew and loved, him rest easy angel."

Floral tributes have been left at the scene, and grandparents Janis Meechan and William Brown spoke of the family's devastating loss.

Ms Meechan told BBC News Scotland : "We think our wee granddaughter was there when he fell.

"We've just came up to put these flowers down and then we'll get him a big grandson flower.

"He was a good boy. Wild, but good."

And head teacher at Camstradden Primary, where Shea was a pupil spoke of her shock at the news.

She added: "In the short period of time Shea's been with us at the school he has made many friends with school staff and the children."

Police enquiries into the incident are continuing, but his death is not being treated as suspicious.
