Thousands raised for family of woman, 20, killed in block of flats

Thousands of pounds have been raised for the family of a woman who was killed just two days before Christmas.

Courtney Boorne was killed on December 23 as emergency services rushed to Quarry Green Heights in Kirkby at around 4.40pm. The 20-year-old woman was taken to hospital in critical condition but despite best efforts, she died.

Since the death, a murder investigation is underway and Merseyside Police confirmed on Christmas Day that a man has now been charged with the murder of the young woman. The force announced that Liam Cain, 19, of Skipton Road, Anfield, has been charged with murder and is due to appear in court on Wednesday, December 28.

Since the death, Courtney's family began a fundraiser for the "beautiful" woman and £2,830 has been raised for the family. The GoFundMe said: "We are in total disbelief last night we got the worst news about the murder and still trying to come to terms with what’s happened and due to it being on Christmas Eve it’s been very difficult for all of the family and would appreciate every penny you can donate."

Since sharing the devastating news, tributes have been pouring in. Amber Daley New said: "So sad rip Courtney thinking of all her family" as Karen Gallagher wrote: "RIP Courtney."

Katie Hall added: "Thinking of Cheryl and the kids, gone far too soon. Rip Courtney." Danielle Rigby said: "So sad to wake up to this news today, can't believe it Court fly high beautiful, thinking of all the family at this heartbroken time."
